The Job Surge is currently accepting applications for an Accounting/Finance Co-op Student to join our Finance and Accounting team in the Calgary head office. This 12-month work term is full time starting May or September 2024. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to work with a variety of Accounting and Finance professionals across several departments. This student will gain practical experience as well as develop technical skills to compliment academic learnings by taking on a variety of tasks and projects during their work term.

Key responsibilities of this role may include: Assist with various financial reporting schedules and account reconciliations (treasury, payables & receivables) Assist with general accounting tasks and recording of monthly journal entries. Streamline existing financial reporting processes and create or update process and procedural documentation. Participate in the budget and forecast process including, but not limited to, updating templates, loading data into financial systems/templates, and validation of data. Accurate completion of quarterly and annual government accounting surveys Support ongoing initiatives and special ad hoc projects.

Qualifications: Must be currently enrolled in third or fourth year of a Bachelors degree in Commerce, or similar, with a major in Accounting or Finance. Students must be returning to their post-secondary institution following thiswork term. We are looking for excellent communication skills, the ability to work in a team, a flexible attitude and the drive and desire to learn. Ability to work independently as well as part of multiple teams.
