Certified Medical Coders

Semantic Health, a Canadian medical coding and auditing software company, is looking for an inpatient Medical Coder to perform data quality audits for inpatient data to ensure compliance with CIHI coding guidelines. This will involve ensuring the correct ICD-10-CA and CCI code assignments given clinical documentation, ensuring compliance with DAD abstraction guidelines, identification of data quality deficiencies in inpatient documentation, and assessment of completeness and accuracy of documentation. Primary Functions: Performs validation audits and interpretation of medical documentation to ensure capture of all relevant coding and abstracting information based on coding guidelines (CIHI DAD and ICD-10CA/CCI) or provider directives as well as clinical documentation Identifies and reports issues or errors, such as incomplete or missing records and documentation, ambiguous or nonspecific documentation, or codes that do not conform to approved coding guidelines or provider directives Required: Minimum 3 years of inpatient coding experience in Canada (must have worked with the DAD methodology), and preferably 3 years of inpatient coding experience in Ontario (must have worked with the HIG methodology) Experience in data quality or medical coding auditing is a significant plus Experience in clinical document improvement is a plus CHIMA certified Work remotely: Yes Job Types : Full-time, Part-time, Temporary Part-time hours: 10-20 per week Salary: $20.00-$35.00 per hour Experience: Inpatient coding: 3 years (required) Licence/Certification: Canadian Coding certification (required)
