The Club The National Golf Club of Canada is an exclusive club and is considered the best golf course in the country. Golf Digest recently ranked the National as 22 in its 2022 international rankings. “A Club where golf is key to all that we do and all that we are.” Annual Club revenues overall are approximately $10 million including dues, capital levies, food and beverage and guest fees. To provide Members and their guests with an exceptional golf experience, with an emphasis on superior golf course conditioning, service, professionalism and overall staff knowledge.

To value and promote within the membership the highest standards of the game of golf and reflect its traditions, especially courtesy, self-discipline, and honour. The Position The Club is seeking a new Controller following the retirement of our long-standing Controller on or about December 1 st , 2023. Reporting to the General Manager, the Controller will be responsible for financial and accounting matters as well as administration, human resources and information technology. As part of the executive management team, you will be expected to contribute to the leadership and strategy of the club.

The Controller’s responsibilities include: Financial reporting to the executive management team, Finance Committee and the Board Analysis and planning for all areas of the club including the pro shop with the focus on inventory control and performance Developing and executing club’s budget and monitoring any variance Maintaining and improving relations with the bank, the audit firm and other external suppliers and regulators Payroll processing Develop and maintain internal controls – safeguards assets and manages liabilities The Candidate Candidates should have a university degree and an accounting designation with several years functioning at a senior level. Candidates will have experience in financially planning and analysis as well traditional controllership functions. Experience in the private club sector or retail environments is interesting. Strong communication skills, detail orientation, and a collaborative and inclusive management style are required.
