Financial Analyst

Role Reporting to the Controller, the Financial Analyst plays a key role in developing a robust financial reporting and data analysis environment with a view to providing data and insights for improved decision making, improved profitability and identifying business trends. The Senior Financial Analyst will need to understand underlying business reasons and processes that drive data, identify areas of improvement and propose solutions where appropriate. The ideal candidate will also have the communication skills necessary to inform and educate stakeholders around the data analysis and its implications for the business. Responsibilities Work with management to prepare forecasts and budgets Develop monthly and quarterly financial reporting package for management Monthly and quarterly analysis of actuals to plan; identify and explain variances on a regular basis Identify KPIs for various stakeholders Develop a KPI dashboard for different stakeholders Analysis of various financial metrics and recommendations for improvements Prepare robust and scalable models using advanced Excel functions Analysis that shows a strong grasp of the details but also an understanding of the bigger picture and context Identify improvement opportunities for existing business processes Collaborate with inventory management, purchasing, product development, sales and IT to identify critical processes that could be improved with better data solutions Perform ad hoc data analyses to support various special projects as they arise Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance 3-5years of relevant work experience Advanced skills in working with MS Office and databases Experience with Syspro is an asset (but not required) Ability to produce high quality deliverables under tight deadlines Ability to work independently (planning, initiating, prioritizing, executing) and as part of a team (involving key stakeholders, updating progress, assisting others)
