Highly Motivated Senior M&A Associate Needed for Global Software Leader Join a fast-growing, acquisitive leader in the technology space and help shape the future of mission-critical businesses Our client is seeking a sharp and driven Senior M&A Associate to join their dynamic team and spearhead exciting expansion efforts. You’ll play a key role in identifying and acquiring companies that align with their strategic growth objectives, contributing directly to building a global powerhouse. This role is on-site in Montreal Quebec, Canada. At this time, they are open to candidates willing to relocate from the US to Montreal.

What You’ll Do: Source and qualify M&A targets: Proactively identify and connect with potential software businesses using various channels, building strong relationships with owners and advisors. Evaluate and value investments: Analyze target acquisitions against investment criteria and determine realistic valuation expectations. Lead comprehensive due diligence: Deep dive into commercial and financial aspects of potential acquisitions, collaborating with the team to ensure informed decision-making. Negotiate and secure deals: Work closely with partners to structure and negotiate transaction terms, aiming for significant revenue acquisition each year.

Stay ahead of the curve: Continuously learn about diverse industries and businesses, seeking opportunities to improve processes and adapt strategies. You’re a Perfect Fit If: You hold a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or a related quantitative field. You have 3-5 years of experience in Investment Banking, Private Equity, M&A, or Corporate Development within a Capital Market setting. You possess strong financial analysis and business development skills, including building financial models.

You’re comfortable traveling up to 25% of the time to connect with potential partners. You have a demonstrated understanding of the buy-and-build model with experience in software and technology. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess a growth mindset, always seeking self-improvement. You have exceptional interpersonal skills to build and maintain genuine relationships.

You demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to navigate challenges and establish operations in new territories. You possess leadership potential and the drive to build and manage a local M&A team in the future. If you have a CFA or CIIA, that is an asset but not required.
