For more information on diversity and inclusion, please visit: https://www.alberta.ca/diversity-inclusion-policy.aspx Natural Gas Strategy and Engagement: The Natural Gas Strategy and Engagement Branch is the lead group supporting the mandate to develop competitive low-carbon natural gas products and initiatives that will support a robust, competitive and sustainable natural gas industry in the emerging de-carbonized energy landscape. The branch also ensures appropriate integration and alignment of strategic policies involving natural gas and key development pathways (like hydrogen, petrochemicals, plastic circular economy) across the Government of Alberta The Ministry of Energy is responsible for sustaining the interests of Albertans through the stewardship and responsible development of energy and mineral resource systems.
For more information on the work of our Ministry, please visit: https://www.alberta.ca/energy.aspx The Natural Gas Strategy section is looking to fill one manager position: Manager, Strategy and Stakeholder Engagement Alberta has expressed ambition to grow and diversify the natural gas sector. Achieving this ambition requires a laser like focus on economic and environmental competitiveness and proactive look at on emerging trends and global policy. Reporting to the Director, this position leads a team tasked with low-carbon strategic policy development, implementation and issues management. Employing techniques such as trend identification and energy fundamentals, the team analyzes global policies that impact the development of the natural gas value chain.
In particular, the manager is tasked with implementing Alberta’s Hydrogen Roadmap and Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) strategy as part of advancing the Natural Gas Vision and Strategy. The manager works collaboratively with all stakeholders in the Hydrogen ecosystem and LNG industry to achieve Alberta’s strategic goals. Qualifications University graduation in a field related to the position assignment, supplemented by four years related experience. Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education. The following are considered assets to the position: Ability to build diverse relationships. Strong communication and analytical skills. Technical and operational knowledge of the natural gas sector and value chain, how natural gas system fits within the energy system and Alberta policies.
Technical knowledge in hydrogen and LNG as a component of the natural gas sector Knowledge in innovation and how it supports development of new low-carbon energy commodities Knowledge in environmental policy and its impact on energy development and how natural gas fits in the decarbonization of the energy sector and emerging low-carbon economy. Knowledge in policy, governance and stakeholder consultations. Experience managing teams. Competencies are behaviors that are essential to reach our goals in serving Albertans.
