Position’s Primary Objectives: As a key member of the Human Resources team, the Payroll & Benefits Coordinator ensures that all aspects of the payroll cycle for all Pacifica employees and benefits administration (MSP, Extended Health, RRSP, pension) are processed in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with Pacifica Housing and government policies.

Key Responsibilities: Completes all payroll functions in order to ensure staff are paid in an accurate and timely manner including: preparing and processing bi-weekly payroll while ensuring completeness and accuracy for 160 employees completing ongoing validation and high level review of web based time cards to ensure time entry is in accordance with applicable policy, collective bargaining agreement, and legislation; correcting discrepancies/anomalies or escalating questions to the appropriate Manager or Director administering employee total rewards including MSP, extended health, RRSP, pension benefits, and employee discount programs administering and updating HRIS and payroll records including processing for new hire, job changes, leaves, and separations establishing and maintaining confidential employee payroll files; remitting source deductions to CRA; preparing reconciliations and report files applicable after each pay, monthly, quarterly and annually such as ROE, source deductions, WCB, and T4s; answering with payroll queries from employees; providing training to managers on time & attendance approval processes as well as assisting employees in the understanding of applicable contract or regulation; timely processing of employment terminations and paperwork; posting journal entries from ADP to Yardi accounting software; and payroll reporting for external funding agencies such as CRD, Island Health, as required. Performs other related duties including: assisting with other projects as needed Requirements Qualifications (minimum Education and Experience requirements): Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Education: Post secondary education (diploma or degree) in accounting, finance, human resources or related field.
