We are looking to bring on a Senior Accountant to join our growing team. About the Opportunity: Working as an integral part of the finance team, this key role interacts with a variety of stakeholders to support business growth and departmental development. Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, you will be responsible for daily bank management, monthly HST filings, preparing/posting journal entries, revenue reporting, GL account reconciliations, process improvements, month-end lead sheets and other reporting requirements as requested by management. Main Responsibilities: Reviewing Accounts Payable to ensure invoices are processed accurately Conducting daily bank transactions and preparing bank payments for approval Monthly Bank reporting Preparing draft financial statements in compliance with ASPE Creating and maintaining balance sheet reconciliations Preparing and filing Canadian HST and GST tax filings for different provinces Performing various analytical procedures to identify and resolve risks to the financial statements Continuously striving for process efficiency while maintaining or increasing quality through automation and continuous process improvements Actively partnering with business units to understand reporting requirements and ongoing business activities, with insights used to adjust financial reporting/analysis to meet changing business needs Completing ad-hoc financial reporting and analysis, as well as special projects Month end accruals Monthly review of financial information related as part of close process and analysis of significant variances to forecast and budget Supporting external auditors by coordinating information requirements Bi-weekly payroll processing What we are looking for: ‪ BS/BA in finance/accounting or related discipline 5 years of experience in a corporate accounting environment with full cycle accounting Superior written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex concepts or information Detail oriented with strong analytical skills, accuracy and organization Strong understanding of Canadian GAAP and ASPE Experience with and understanding of US GAAP Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, Macros, V-lookups) Ability to scope, assess and implement new technologies to automate or digitalize legacy processes Prior track record in change management and continuous process improvements Proficiency in large ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) Ability to prioritize tasks, adapt to change, communicate expectations, adhere to deadlines while managing multiple projects simultaneously Self-driven, goal oriented, and work independently as well as collaborate in teams or functional groups This unique blend of hard AND soft skills will be critical to help Unique bridge where we’re coming from with where we’re going.
