Position Summary Reporting to the President and CEO and working collaboratively as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Senior Director, Finance & Corporate Services promotes Youthdale’s purpose statement, guiding principles and strategic priorities to ensure the agency is a leader in the provision of children mental health services. The Senior Director, Finance & Corporate Services provides leadership to the multiple areas of finance and corporate services including budgeting, finance, accounting, procurement, facilities management, information technology and decision support and leads the organization’s operating process. Accountability Reports to: President & CEO Supervises: Manager, Finance & Manager, Corporate Services & Administration Corporate Responsibilities Fosters positive and constructive interpersonal relationships with the staff, volunteers, residents, visitors, outside agencies, government officials and related professional associations. Maintains and adheres to all relevant Maintains and adheres to organizational policies and Abides by all occupational health and safety Demonstrates management practices, which are consistent with the guiding principles and philosophy of Youthdale Treatment Areas of Responsibility Assumes overall responsibility for the oversight and management of all financial and corporate services of Youthdale ensuring services are in line with best practices and current professional standards.
Specific functional areas of responsibility include: Financial Management Develops and implements financial strategy, and provides strategic recommendations to the President & CEO and other organizational leaders; Leads the planning and development of the agency’s annual budget, and its submission to government; Provides on-going monitoring and financial forecasts to ensure a balanced financial result; Develops, implements and maintains all administrative policies and procedures for proper internal control, and to comply with government directives, practices and policies; Facilitates and oversees annual financial audits conducted by third parties to ensure effective resolution and swift closure of auditing activities; Oversees and directs all financial processes, including AP, AR, month end reconciliations, monthly financial statements, variance and performance analysis, forecasting, and procurement; Directs, supervises, mentors and develops the accounting and payroll staff. Corporate Services Works proactively with the senior leadership team in the implementation of the agency’s strategic Analyzes/Assesses funding trends and developments that may affect the agency, and makes recommendations of viable strategies to ensure the long term financial health of the agency; Works closely with Youthdale Board Finance and Audit Committee and the Youthdale Foundation; Develops and implements a business continuity plan for the agency; Provides leadership in the areas of business processes, procurement and financial information; Leads and directs the corporate functions of Information Technology and Facilities Management; Leads the organization’s operating planning process. Ensures continued compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) requirements. Risk Management (Insurance) Provides strategic leadership to develop and maintain a risk management framework; Identifies potential risks and develops effective strategies to mitigate risks; Develops and implements a business continuity plan for the agency.
Decision Support Oversees the process of data collection, processing analysis and its reporting; Develops and maintains a framework of performance measurement and indicators. Strategy, Planning and Risk In partnership with the senior leadership team, develops, monitors and leads the implementation of the strategic and operational plan. Creates and implements Departmental Action Plans, in collaboration with all departments. Establishes and nurtures strategic partnerships and alliances with partners who will advance the Agency’s strategic priorities.
Assists in assessing risks in all programs and services and develops a strategy to mitigate risks. Improves organizational success in all staff functions through the lens of diversity, inclusion, and equity by supporting the Agency’s diversity and inclusion strategy. Supports communication, education, and training plans that increase awareness and understanding of diversity, inclusion and equity. Performs other duties as assigned by the President & CEO .
Qualifications Chartered Professional Accountant designation required. 10 years’ experience with a minimum of five years’ experience in a senior financial role responsible for financial strategy and overseeing and delivering the full range of financial and accounting practices, including but not limited, to budgeting, forecasting, reporting, financial analysis, cash flow management, AP/AR. Experience in a public sector setting in an organization that receives funding from the Ministry of Health and the Toronto Central Local Health Integration Network preferred, e.g., community agency, hospital, not for profit, children and youth mental health setting. Previous financial reporting experience in a not-for-profit organization an asset. Previous experience and knowledge of corporate services, procurement, risk management, and decision support.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to establish positive partnerships and work as a leader of a multidisciplinary agency with external agencies, government and funders. Strong managerial and leadership skills, with an ability to work effectively with multi- professional groups while facilitating organizational change. Proven success in leading transformational change through the development and implementation of a comprehensive financial management strategy – in a complex, multiple stakeholders, professionally staffed, unionized organization.
