This is a hybrid position, reporting directly to the Regional Controller. The Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for the preparation, analysis and review of complex financial data to be used in reports directed towards senior management. As well, this role will assist extensively with ad-hoc financial and operational analysis which will require significant interaction with individuals across all areas of the organization.
Responsibilities: Participate in various month-end and year-end activities, including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, preparation and analysis of schedules, statements and reports for Senior Management. Preparation and analysis of various monthly financial reports including financial statements. Execution of complex analyses of financial and/or statistical data and preparation of related reports. Formulate financial models to assess feasibility of various business initiatives and performance of postmortem analysis to monitor returns of said initiatives.
Track key performance metrics such as segment sales growth, margin contribution, inventory turns, etc. and analysis of results to identify opportunities for improvement. Identify financial process improvements / efficiencies and opportunities to strengthen operational and financial controls. Involved in preparation process of annual forecasts and budgets and measurements of monthly results against forecasts and budgets, explaining all variances. Carry out profitability analysis on various lines of business in support of operating management.
Continuous evaluation of current finance department processes and procedures to identify opportunities for improvement and efficiency Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related major Holder of a CPA designation or enrolled and nearing completion. Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, consistently meeting deadlines with accurate and detailed results. Demonstrates expertise in business analysis and financial modeling. Experience in preparing complex, detailed financial reports including financial statements and various financial models.
Experience aggregating/summarizing large amounts of information from multiple sources and presenting in a value-added format. Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills including an ability to build relationships across divisions. Advanced proficiency with MS Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, macros would be an asset). Attentive to detail and accuracy Work independently and collaboratively.
Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting/finance or public accounting experience (Public accounting experience preferred).
