Senior Manager, Project Management – Productivity Project Management Office, Canadian Banking Purpose The Productivity Program Management Office (PPMO) has been established to support the execution of key strategic projects and major initiatives focused on improving the Productivity of the Canadian Bank. One of the primary objectives is to provide program/project management support through effective use of common project management methodologies, tools, templates, education and training. Our work is focused on leadership, problem solving and driving results.
As Senior Manager, Project Management, you’ll work closely with Scotiabank’s internal teams, providing leadership and executional capabilities to ensure the Canadian Bank is able to deliver and sustain the full benefits of project management standards, methodologies, and best practices. Right from the start of a project, you will be on the ground ensuring that successful project outcomes are a priority. While engaging internal stakeholders, your role is to lead, oversee and ensure effective project delivery and sustainable project benefits. You will be working with experienced business leaders who will empower you to lead your projects, develop your capabilities and make things happen. Accountabilities: Project Governance: • Oversee the project management process from idea approval through to post-implementation review and benefits tracking, ensuring alignment with Enterprise Delivery Framework • Manage the project initiation process on CA PPM (Clarity)/SmartStream for all significant projects and manage financial change requirement throughout the project lifecycle • Manage and report progress, issues, risks, and change, against all project dimensions • Ensuring proper project expense forecasting by controlling forecast quality, reconciling project budget, reporting inconsistencies, and controlling for corrections • Identifying the key team members required for the local cross-functional team from the various support areas. Leading the team to ensure effective execution of project deliverables Project Management, Reporting, & Analysis: • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders. • Track, monitor and communicate the progress of initiatives against defined project milestones and financial reporting to ensure progress versus expectations • Establish a two-way communication process with project participants, senior management, and all other stakeholders to maintain support, negotiate priorities and ensure that the initiatives stay on track • Participate in key stakeholder /SME working sessions for the extraction and prioritization of requirements • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work Education / Experience / Other Information: • Bachelor’s or Masters’ degree in Business, Engineering or a related field • PMP, Process Improvement, Change Management and Agile certifications are considered assets • 5-7 years of demonstrated project management experience, leading large scale and complex transformations, preferably in Financial Institutions • Analytical skills with the perspective of seeking opportunity for improvement • Ability to sustain a broad-based knowledge of the Bank’s and CB’s strategy, operations, policies and procedures. • A results-oriented individual who is able to lead change, with strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), problem-solving and stakeholder management skills • Ability to multi-task effectively • Ability to prioritize tasks to meet objectives within tight deadlines, to manage the variety of tasks presented IN-CB LI-Hybrid Location(s): Canada : Ontario : Toronto Scotiabank is a leading bank in the Americas.
