The Biologics Manufacturing Centre (BMC) Inc. is a new biomanufacturing facility whose construction was completed in June 2021. The BMC, a not-for-profit organization, supports the expansion of Canada’s biologics manufacturing capacity, ensuring that vaccines and other biologics products can be safely manufactured at home. The BMC is designed to produce biopharmaceuticals such as viral vector, protein subunit and virus-like particle vaccines and other biologics. W e are looking for a Specialis, Procurement who will be responsible to plan and implement optimal procurement strategies for supplies, equipment, services and professional services.

Operating in a biomanufacturing G ood M anufacturing P ractices (GMP) facility, the Specialist, Procurement will be responsible to manage the p rocurement process by identifying the proper sourcing strategy for internal clients needs while ensuring compliance with GMP processes and the organization’s internal processes. This position is responsible to translate various levels of complexity requirements into procurement actions to meet the deadlines and objectives of the Operational teams. Under the supervision of the Direct or, Supply Chain and Warehouse , the Specialist, Procurement will be responsible to : Identify and assess current or potential suppliers for goods, services and professional services needed to support the corporate and operational teams, in compliance with GMP processes ; Translate internal needs into requests for quotes and proposals and follow-up on such ; Evaluate responses to quotes, proposals and provide recommendations to stakeholders ; Negotiate pricing, commercial terms and conditions, prepare and issue contracts and/or purchase orders in the Procurement system for selected suppliers ; Ensure compliance with Procurement and Corporate processes ; Develop and implement efficient procurement processes and streamlined workflows ; Cultivate good vendor and suppliers relationships to secure favorable terms, resolve issues promptly, support operational GMP needs and leverage opportunities for cost savings ; Identify and mitigate potential procurement risks, qualify and compliance concerns ; Ensure updated knowledge of market trends, industry best practices and regulatory changes affecting procurement and develop innovative strategies to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness ; This position has no direct reports, however it will be required to work collaboratively with team members in the coordination of procurement activities. You are the person we are looking for if: You have a Bachelor’s degree in business administration , operations management and logistics, procurement or laws, or a related field; You have at least five (5) years of experience in p rocurement , ideally within a GMP manufacturing environment; Strong negotiation, contract management, and vendor evaluation skills; Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to foster positive relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers; Proficiency in using procurement software and tools for efficient procurement management, such as an ERP; Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of handling multiple procurement projects simultaneously; Analytical mindset with a focus on cost optimization and process improvement; Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small start-up business environment, taking initiative and demonstrating a proactive approach to problem-solving.
