POSITION SUMMARY: The Speech-LanguagePathologist is responsible for the provision of speech-language pathologyservices to Home and Community Care patients in order to address and improvecommunication and/or swallowing disorders. QUALIFICATIONS · RegisteredSpeech-Language Pathologist in good standing with the College of Audiologists andSpeech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO); · In-depth knowledge ofspeech-language pathology services and other community resources, treatmentcentres, and organizations; · Good understanding ofthe roles of other health care professionals; · Relevant speechlanguage pathology experience in a community/health care environment; · Comprehensive andup-to-date knowledge of speech language pathology tools, processes, equipment,and assistive technology; · Knowledge of fundingagencies related to the speech language pathology recommendations; Practical knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation (e.g.regarding the provision of health care services, privacy, health andsafety, etc.); Comprehensive knowledge of the standards of practice and professionalguidelines set forth by CASLPO; Ability to prioritize professional duties and manage multiplepatients, and efficiently organize workload; Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to work with diversepatient groups, case managers, family members/caregivers/SubstituteDecision Makers, health care professionals, community organizations andservice providers; Effective listening, observation and facilitation skills; Ability to communicate information effectively through a variety ofmeans including meetings, reports, letters, and presentations; Working knowledge ofcomputer software (email, internet) and Microsoft Office applications (Word,Excel); Must have validdriver’s license and access to a vehicle; Valid Emergency FirstAid Certification; Advanced oral and written proficiencyin English and French essential.
