Transportation Manager Schedule: Day shift position Salary: starting at $90 000 Location: Montreal Ville St-Laurent Industry: Retail Distribution As Transportation Manager working under the Procurement Director, your main roles and responsibilities will be to: Plan, develop, organize, direct, manage, and evaluate the operations and budget related to transportation. Advantages Hybrid working hours and location RRSP available Full benefits coverage Internal career development Responsibilities Plan the strategies in relation to transportation operations including dispatching, routing, and tracking transportation vehicles. Develop and implement profit improvement plans and change management plans. Develop key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of the transportation operations.
Negotiate and authorize contracts, and direct procurement related to transportation operational needs. Actively participate as a leader in various projects and initiatives for operational optimization and continuous improvement. Assist and guide all team members under your direct supervision as well as their teams. Direct the effectiveness of private, third party and contract carriage systems.
Plan, develop, implement and monitor transportation health and safety, and security programs and activities. Develop and communicate transportation policies and procedures. Monitor transportation operations. Direct investigations.
Negotiate with carriers, warehouse operators and insurance company. Prepare management recommendations. Recommend capital expenditures for acquisition of new equipment. Coordinate the implementation and execution of best practices.
Control and optimize the operational costs in collaboration with your supervisor. Qualifications Operations and Production Management degree or logistics, business administration Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar management and transportation operations role Fully Bilingual Google Suite knowledge Distribution, transport and logistics best practices Understanding of equipment and infrastructure best practices, prevention and maintenance Basic knowledge of fleet management such as fleet performance, down time and performance of local shops in terms of repair and response Knowledge of transportation rules in each province Positive leader Summary As Transportation Manager working under the Procurement Director, your main roles and responsibilities will be to Plan, develop, organize, direct, manage, and evaluate the operations and budget related to transportation.
