Organization Overview: The Black Class Action Secretariat (BCAS) is a dynamic, not-for-profit organization dedicated to combating systemic racism, particularly anti-Black racism and discrimination in public and private sector employment. We are committed to promoting education, raising awareness, advocating for legislative changes, and pursuing legal remedies to create a society that is equal and just. Position: Treasurer Location: Virtual Type: Volunteer, Board of Directors Commitment: 2-year term, renewable Job Description: The Black Class Action Secretariat (BCAS) is seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Board of Directors. As Treasurer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the direction and impact of our organization as we strive to combat systemic racism and promote equality and justice.

Financial Oversight: Supervise the organization’s financial activities. Budget Management: Develop and manage the organization’s budget. Financial Reporting: Present financial reports to the board regularly. Financial Planning: Create long-term financial plans and assess risks.

Financial Compliance: Ensure compliance with financial regulations. Fundraising Support: Collaborate on fundraising strategies and oversight. Bank and Investment Management: Handle bank accounts and investments. Financial Policies: Develop and maintain financial policies.

Qualifications: Financial Expertise: Strong financial background and experience. Previous Board Experience: Prior nonprofit board or financial leadership experience. Nonprofit Finance Knowledge: Understanding of nonprofit financial management. Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data and assess risks.

Excellent Communication: Effective communication of financial information. Ethical Conduct: Commitment to ethical financial practices and compliance. Time Commitment: Availability for regular board meetings and responsibilities. Commitment to Mission: Alignment with the organization’s mission and values.
