Artpoint Gallery and Studios Society in Calgary is looking for an experienced volunteer with accounting/bookkeeping experience to join our Board of Directors as Community Member – Volunteer Treasurer. Are you looking for work experience in a non-profit organization?. Would you like to support an arts non-profit society that has contributed to arts and culture for 30 years in the City of Calgary?. As Treasurer, you will manage and direct the financial affairs of the Society.

To report on the financial affairs of the Society at every Board meeting. After consultation with the Board, to prepare the annual budget of the Society, and regularly reports to the Board as to the Society’s progress in meeting the budget. A further description of role and responsibilities will be discussed in an interview. We invite all candidates with accounting experience to join our Board team.

Contact and submit your application and resume for Treasurer – Board Director (Volunteer) to infoartpoint.ca Responsibilities to attend all meetings of the Board and the Society. • if unable to attend, to ensure that the President or another Director is properly briefed to report to the meeting on behalf of the Treasurer • to manage and direct the financial affairs of the Society, ensuring that all monies received by or expended by the Society are handled properly and in accordance with the direction of the Board and General Meetings • to ensures that membership dues are properly collected and accounted for • to act as one of the signing authorities for the accounts of the Society • to report on the financial affairs of the Society at every Board meeting, drawing the attention of the Board to any unexpected or unusual expenditures • after consultation with the Board, to prepare the annual budget of the Society, and regularly reports to the Board as to the Society’s progress in meeting the budget • to ensure that rents are received from studio occupants, and reports any arrears to the Board • to ensure that the financial statements reporting on the year’s financial activity are properly prepared and presents the same to the membership at the Annual General Meeting • to act as liaison between the Society and the Society’s auditors • to ensure that the employees of the Society are properly paid and that proper payroll deductions have been made and forwarded to the appropriate agencies • to collaborate with the work of the Society’s bookkeeper. Ideally the role of Treasurer to be held by one person as voted in at the the Annual General Meeting, October 19, 2023. Qualifications · · Accounting training and/or certification · A strong background in finance, accounting, or a related field. · Familiarity with non-profit accounting practices. · Proficiency in financial software and tools (QuickBooks, Simply, Excel, etc.) · Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. · Strong attention to detail and accuracy. · Effective communication and interpersonal skills. · Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. · Interest and/or passion for arts and culture Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter explaining your interest in the Treasurer position – Board Director, Volunteer Member, as soon as possible.
